The Data Lab shortlisted again
We are delighted to be shortlisted for the second year in a row in the Best Education Provider/Training Programme category.
One of The Data Lab’s key objectives is to assist in closing the skills gap currently being experienced by the data science industry. The Data Lab works closely with industry and academia to create a pipeline of talented data scientists, through education programs such as our MSc programme, Industrial Doctorates, online learning and Continued Professional Development. So we are delighted that our hard work and continuing success in this area is being recognised as an important and valuable contribution to Scotland’s growing data science industry.
The Data Lab are proud to be sponsoring the ‘Transformational Innovation Through Data’ category
This award is to recognise teams or individuals who have used data to innovate and transform their business, their client relationships or the services and products they deliver to market. We are sponsoring this great award because we truly believe that unlocking the value of data is the key to bringing social and economic benefits through innovation.
Three great companies have been shortlisted for this award:
Meterology
METERology is an engineered solution for monitoring energy meters in Real Time through a simple to use web application which can be accessed from anywhere within an organisation. Real Time energy data can be displayed at building entrances to show building users how their behaviour is affecting the energy use of each building and also allows the assessment of the effectiveness of energy efficiency measures as they are implemented.
Previse
Previse uses artificial intelligence to tackle the problem of late payment for the supply chain, which has been identified as a growing challenge for Britain’s small businesses. Previse uses hundreds of millions of data points and sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms to provide a score of a corporate buyer’s likelihood to pay the invoice. This allows funders to instantly release funds to the supplier to meet the invoice, thus preventing late payment.
UrbanTide
UrbanTide believe by focusing on the integration of people, technology and data they can create smarter, more liveable cities for everyone. They have expertise in transforming cities, innovating new products, extracting value from data and technology and engaging diverse communities. Their goal is to bring people, data and technology together to deliver a sustainable, prosperous and inclusive future for everyone.
Good luck to all of them! We are really looking forward to finding out who the winner will be on 26 April.
