The first quarter of 2015 has been a busy one for The Data Lab! The first collaborative projects have kicked off, with a growing list of potential new projects on the pipeline. We are also busy preparing for The Data Lab MSc starting in September. The MSc will be delivered by Robert Gordon University, The University of Dundee and The University of Stirling, and will be launched in mid-April. Finally, we are delighted to welcome three new members to our team.
Brian Hills joins as Head of Product Management and will be responsible for the strategic direction of The Data Lab shaping the products and services to be delivered by the team. Brian has an extensive understanding of data and analytics, with 17 years experience across domains including Telecoms, IT and Digital. He joins The Data Lab from Skyscanner where he launched and grew the Business Intelligence team. Prior to this, he held analytics and engineering roles with Sumerian and HP.
Andrew Mitchell joins as Business Development Executive. Andrew has 19 years experience in the ICT sector and 12 years international experience in corporate and business-university collaboration and commercialisation. He has worked for and with small businesses, FTSE100 corporations, investors, and world leading research-intensive universities. Andrew is part of the Business Development team, whose main objective is to identify opportunities and ensure that industry led Research & Development projects are created; and develop a commercial strategy for engaging partners across industry, academia and the public sector associated with particular market sector(s).
Lizzie Crawford joins as Head of Operations, and is responsible for all aspects of The Data Lab’s sponsored project delivery and managing The Data Lab resources and process across three hubs located in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Before joining The Data Lab in March 2015, Lizzie held a number of Project and Operational Management roles in the Defence industry and Financial Services.
