Join us for DataTech19, Scotland’s first technical data science conference as part of DataFest
The Data Lab is delighted to introduce a new event to the DataFest family: DataTech (14 March 2019, Edinburgh). This technical, one-day data science conference will cater to a diverse audience including analysts, developers, engineers and scientists from the public sector, academia and industry. We are welcoming attendees and presenters from a variety of backgrounds and levels of expertise, to discuss important topics in data science, share technical knowledge, and engage in networking and collaboration. We are also inviting submissions and case studies on a variety of topics, so please consider applying before the deadline on the 16th of November 2018 (see here for details)!
Come meet Jared Lander, our keynote at DataTech19
We are pleased to announce our first confirmed keynote speaker for DataTech19: Jared Lander, Chief Data Scientist of Lander Analytics (a data science consultancy based in New York City) and Adjunct Professor of Statistics at Columbia University. Jared also organises the New York Open Statistical Programming Meetup and the New York R Conference. The applications of his work on data management, multilevel models, machine learning, generalized linear models and statistical computing have ranged from music and fund raising, to finance and humanitarian relief efforts.
He is also the author of R for Everyone: Advanced Analytics and Graphics and is creating a course with DataCamp on Lasso and Elastic-Net Regularized Generalized Linear Models via R package glmnet. Recently, he has spoken on topics such as parallel computing in R, deep learning, machine learning in R and time series in R at Strata (both New York and London) and ODSC London this year.
