You’ve seen the Edinburgh Fringe, now it’s time to experience DataFest Fringe – Scotland’s premiere showcase of data and artificial intelligence!
Our annual data and AI showcase is back for 2023; this year, it promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Each summer, August brings a flurry of excitement to Scotland’s capital (did you know that Edinburgh’s population doubles during its world-famous Fringe month?). But why should summer have all the fun? The DataFest Fringe offers another social calendar programme for those who aren’t yet ready to retire from attending events.
As part of The Data Lab’s DataFest events, the Fringe is a unique opportunity for tech, data, and AI communities in Scotland to shine on the international stage. From enlightening talks by experts to mind-bending AI art (and even some hip-hop surprises), DataFest Fringe has something for everyone. While we can’t reveal the final line-up just yet, we want to give you a sneak peek of some key events that are already hitting the main stage …

What is a Fringe event?
A DataFest Fringe event is an independently organised event that aligns with the theme and values of DataFest. Just like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, you have the freedom to design your event and make it as unique and creative as you wish. Whether you want to host a workshop, panel discussion, hackathon, or a networking session, the possibilities are endless!
