Take AI implementation in your organisation to the next level with expert consultancy from The Data Lab’s Data Science Team.

This intervention is designed for SMEs with data maturity who are ready to develop and deploy an AI project that can drive tangible business results. Building on the Problem Definition Workshop, this fully funded, one-to-one support offers direct, hands-on guidance in scoping, testing, and applying AI solutions to foster growth and enhance operational efficiency. 

Who it’s for 

Data-mature, high-growth Scottish SMEs ready to develop and pilot an AI project. 

Data-mature organisations with accessible data and clearly defined problems or innovation goals, who are ready to test AI through pilots and proof-of-concept projects, usually with some technical staff in place, but may still need specialist support.

How it works 

• Each project typically runs for a few months with 5 to 10 days of expert support from The Data Lab’s Data Science and AI Team.
  
• Delivery may include discovery, data review, prototype development, dashboarding, AI-assisted tool development, testing, handover, and recommendations. 
  
• The intervention can deliver outcomes such as AI prototypes, operational dashboards, and recommendations for improved data practices, while giving SMEs direct experience of applying data and AI in their own setting.

Cost

This support is fully funded by the Scottish Government – there’s no cost to your business.

Duration 

Each project receives up to 10 days of dedicated support from an Applied Data and AI Scientist.

The total duration of the project depends on several factors, including the type of project, the readiness of the data, and, if applicable, the preparation and installation of hardware for sensors.

Projects can take as much as three months to complete.

Next steps 

Once your project is complete, you’ll retain any tools or dashboards developed, receive tailored recommendations, and be signposted to further support and funding for future AI adoption projects.
