Data Leaders Programme

Data Leaders Programme

Our vision is to build a community of data leaders that are equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead Scotland’s businesses to economic success.

Data Leaders Programme Structure

Our programme for emerging data leaders challenges preconceptions of what the opportunities of Data and AI are for organisations and builds cohorts of practitioners who can support each other through this journey and beyond.

Participants are guided through a programme of learning incorporating themed workshops, masterclasses, facilitated peer discussions, fireside chats and social events.

Themed workshops

These are the formal Learning Sessions within the programme, run by The Data Lab or one of our partners. They will introduce you to a headline topic in the data space. Example topics are:

  • The Importance of a Data Strategy
  • Driving Value from Data
  • The Ethics & Governance of Data and AI
  • An Introduction to Data Architecture
  • Building a Data Team
  • Successful Execution of a Data Strategy

Leadership circles

Groups of peers get together and support each other with the practical challenges of being a modern data leader. Leadership Circles are a place where the cohort is encouraged, as a group of experienced individuals, to share challenges and help each other overcome them. It is a supportive way to:

  • hold each other accountable for achieving your goals,
  • learn from each other’s experiences,
  • generate new ideas based on your collective wisdom.

Fireside chats

These are designed to be a relaxed touch-point for you to get to know your other cohort members and hear from an expert from our network. Some example Fireside Chats we have hosted are:

  • Data from a Legal Perspective
  • Data for Good
  • Data Driven Entrepreneurship
  • Creating a Data Culture
  • Data Storytelling and Visualisation

Throughout the year you will have access to an online community where you can share hints and tips, Q&As, additional case studies and much more. The programme culminates with a celebration dinner and networking event.
