A joint partnership between the University of Edinburgh and Wayra UK will support a new accelerator programme for start-up companies working in artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies.
The joint programme, supported by Scottish Enterprise, will be starting in September and is expected to welcome 20 start-ups a year and bring around 400 jobs to Edinburgh.
Wayra UK, part of the Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica, already runs five UK accelerator programmes but the latest launch is its first in Scotland. The programme will provide spin-out and start-up companies with the ability to scale up, through direct access to Telefónica in the UK and beyond.
The search is on for the most innovative data driven start-ups to join the programme in Edinburgh.
