MSc Programme Partner Launch and Information Events

The Data Lab MSc is a collaborative programme which this year is funding 155 Masters studentships on 25 Data Science and AI courses across 11 Scottish Universities. The programme facilitates industry involvement and collaboration, and provides full funding and resources for students. The programme is funded by The Scottish Government through the SFC and The ESF/Developing Scotland’s Workforce fund.

We partner with MBN Solutions, a recruitment, talent and people solutions consultancy based in Glasgow, to provide 8 – 12 weeks summer placements in Scottish organisations as an option to all students on the programme. Students are paid the national living wage by the host organisations.

We would love your organisation to get involved
With 155 students to look after we turn towards Scottish organisations to help with taking on one or more students for the duration of their placement. Over the last number of years, we have built brilliant relationships with many companies from right across Scotland, but we are always on the lookout for new companies to get involved or getting current companies more involved. With this in mind, we have decided to run a number of info events across Scotland to show you why your organisation should get involved.

These events will provide information about the programme, including opportunities for organisations to engage as sponsors, placement hosts and challenge owners during our Innovation Week (a week-long challenge for the MSc Students). We will launch our Call for Funding for The Data Lab MSc Programme 2020/21, and outline how Universities can apply for the funding of places on their Data Science and AI related courses. We are particularly interested in applications from non-STEM disciplines (e.g. we currently fund places on MSc Data Science for Business, MSc Sports Data Science and MSc Urban Analytics).

For organisations and universities not already involved in the programme, the event will provide information about the range of opportunities and how to engage with them. For those who are already involved in the MSc programme, this event will provide information on the variety of new and other opportunities to engage over the next year.

Find out about funding for your courses
For course leaders who already have students funded by The Data Lab MSc programme, and for those new to the programme or keen to learn more about whether it is relevant, this is an opportunity to learn about the type of courses we will consider funding, eligibility criteria and how to apply for funding.

Following the event there will be networking, with members of The Data Lab, MBN Solutions available to chat about how you can get involved.

So if you are:
– A university looking for info on how to run a course
– An organisation looking to learn more about the placement opportunities
– An organisation looking to learn about other ways to get involved
please do come along and we’ll be happy to help you out.
