The Data Lab requires assistance in the preparation and running of our Innovation Week, as part of our 2017/18 MSc Programme.
The Data Lab MSc is a fully funded challenge-based learning programme, now entering its third year, supporting 130 students across 11 Scottish Universities. It aims to close the skills gap in data science and provide students with an education geared towards meeting the needs of industry, so the students grasp the skills that organisations actually require.
As an integral part of the course, The Data Lab offers students additional training that focuses on applying their theoretical knowledge in a real-world context and developing non-technical skills essential to data science, such as teamwork and communication. This is delivered by The Data Lab MSc Innovation Week, a 5 day residential trip where all 130 students are brought together to work on real life data sets from private, public and third sector Scottish organisations. The aim of this event is to produce a meaningful output, for example a product, process, service or visualisation, which provides a valuable impact for Scotland.
