Recent projects have included predictive maintenance, industrial process optimisation, recommendation algorithms, anomaly detection and more.
The team predominantly works in R and Python, on machine learning, statistical modelling visualisation and the like. We want to expand the team to cover big data architectures, deployment and cloud services, product lifecycle, and web-ready interactive visualisations.

Vacancies for Research Engineers
Part of the Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Computer Science offered by The University of St Andrews in partnership with The Data Lab
The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) is a doctorate research programme with a solid industry focus. The research conducted as part of the EngD programme is very much applied to specific problems faced by the Industry Sponsor, each problem couched as a research challenge. The programme allows academia and industry to work together in mentoring and training a Research Engineer (RE), who will graduate with the academic rigour to undertake applied research, with skills and experience to apply that research capability directly within industry.
Data Lab Prize Studentships will be awarded to Research Engineers who are judged by The Data Lab to be offering the most exciting and innovative proposals for pursuing data-driven or data-intensive research. A Data Lab Prize Studentship will provide up to 50% of the fees and stipend for a Research Engineer (RE) for the 4-year EngD programme, for those REs applying for entry in September 2016.
